This, the inspiration of Mick Cavanagh, was the first attempt at filling
the long period from May to September with some kind of activity.
Micks brainchild turned out to be a success and he is to
be congratulated on the realization of his vision.
The format was intended to feature a maximum of eight teams
taking part in eight quizzes in Table Quiz format of eighty questions, with one
set being asked by each team in turn.
In the event, only 7 teams entered with 2 from last
seasons Division 1, 3 from Div. 2 and just 1 from Div. 3. The last place
was taken by a side representing the R.A.F.A. club, Red Sparrows. The final
scores were:-

Each player had contributed £2 and a Raffle was held each
week. A buffet was provided on the final evening, when accumulated funds were
distributed as money prizes in the Raffle. It was generally agreed that the
event had been an enjoyable one.
Even Red Sparrows, who trailed-in in a distant last place, said
they had thoroughly enjoyed the experience, despite a cloud having been placed
over their participation by the sudden death of their popular colleague Dave
Briant, in an early week of the Quizzes.
Finally, our grateful thanks go to the committee of the
R.A.F.A. Club for agreeing to open on Tuesday evenings just for us, with
especial thanks going to Chairman Bill McCann.
