Background Information
Please note the caveat

Okay, so matches are played between teams of four, and some members want to play every match, which is great. 8-) But I suspect very few teams have not, on occasion, had one team member unavailable.

Playing as a team of three means that the team automatically loses ten points - also the extra brain power in conferred questions. Less commonly, only two people are available for a match, as sadly happened to Magic Robots recently.

This means you not only forfeit the match but your team has a 2 point penalty— and a letter from The Committee. ::shudders:: Yes, Imps have been there too a few years back. We had a close-run thing this year too, so I thought I'd take a punt at setting up a 'Sits. Vac.' page...

Maybe, your team could use an extra player or two, especially with all the other non-league matches we play these days. Or maybe you're not a member of The Grimsby and District Quiz League - yet - but are reading this out of interest and would like to join a team or start your own.

CAVEAT: This is not like a pub quiz where you just turn up on the night, play for free, go home and have no further input. You should be aware that:

1. There is an annual subscription fee, currently £32 per team, which pays for room hire, timing equipment and so on. This is collected by a committee member at your first match of the season, usually around mid-to-end September.

2. Each team compiles a set of 80 questions for other teams to answer - for several matches. Obviously, you can't ask the same set of questions for a team you've already set for in an earlier match.

In an average season, the team will be expected to provide questions for five or six matches, plus knock-out matches. You and a fellow team member or members will then ask your questions and also handle the timing and the scores on our wonderful 'laser display board *.'

If you're still interested, send an e-mail to The Webmistress with the information you want in the
table(s) below. [ If you don't want to use your e-mail address, it's fine to use mine. ]

N.B. I do not use identifiable personal details like addresses or 'phone numbers here.

*You need to listen to I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue to get that one. ;-)

Over to you!
